Menna El-Assady is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science at ETH Zurich, where they lead the Interactive Visualization and Intelligence Augmentation Lab (IVIA).
Previously, they were a research fellow at the AI Center of ETH Zurich. Prior to that, they worked as a research associate and doctoral student in the Data Analysis and Visualization group at the University of Konstanz (Germany) and in the Visualization for Information Analysis lab at OntarioTech University (Canada).
Their research lies at the intersection of data analysis, visualization, computational linguistics, and explainable artificial intelligence. They are particularly interested in integrating data mining and machine learning techniques with visual analytics, with a focus on text data.
