[VK25 THEME]
To be human is to be resilient. For the past two hundred millenia, humanity has survived mass extinctions, devastating pandemics, rapid industrialization, and more varied living conditions than almost any other species. Our world itself has changed, as has our understanding of it, its processes and inner systems -- but never before has the pace of this change been so fast.
In the context of this acceleration, we want to explore the concept of resilience -- the ability to bounce back, to endure, to adapt. What does this process of transformation look like? What can we gain from it? And how can information design help us see clearer?
At Visualizing Knowledge, we invite you to look deeper. Join us in navigating complex and fascinating topics through data visualisation and information design. We’ll meet in Helsinki for in-depth discussions and workshops with
International experts,
Researchers from multiple scientific fields,
Design practitioners,
Data Journalists,
Educators,
Students,
and Enthusiasts.
Together, we will share profound knowledge while showcasing the changes our world has already gone through -- and those to come.
During our conference, experts and new talent alike will explore visualisation in widely varied and relevant subjects such as
Mapping legal systems,
The role of humanity in AI,
Climate change impacts,
Human genome research,
Advances in Biology,
Air quality,
Education,
Civic Engagement,
and Life Satisfaction.
We will explore the potential of visualization to illuminate truths, inspire action, and shape a more informed and equitable future.

[VENUE]
Visualizing Knowledge 2025 will take place on Aalto University’s main campus Otaniemi which is situated in the area of Espoo, 15 minutes by metro from Helsinki City Center.
Originally designed by Alvar Aalto, the campus offers a unique combination of education, study and business packed into this small area.
The conference itself, as well as the showcase, will take place in Aalto’s brand new Marsio meeting and conference space, located just beside the Metro and Tram stops.
How to find us
Marsio is located right in the heart of the campus at Otakaari 2. When coming from the direction of Väre and the metro station (use the exit A towards Otaniementie and the University), walk across Korkeakoulu square and cross the light rail tracks. Marsio is the first building on the left after the tracks. You can also recognise it by the glass corner of the building.
Marsio is in the centre of the picture. On the right is the amphitheatre of Otakaari 1 (Undergraduate Centre). On the left is the Väre building, and the light trail tracks situate between Väre and Marsio. The metro station exit is at the bottom left of the picture.
[BACKGROUND]
Previously known as Tieto Näkyväksi, Visualizing Knowledge has been held every year since 2012 in Helsinki, Finland. In 2017, the event became a part of Aalto University and is now organised in collaboration with a motivated team of students, faculty and staff from the fields of Visual Communication and Information Design.
